File a Nonsuit (Dismiss a Case)
The non-suit is a legal procedure used by a plaintiff to voluntarily dismiss their case without prejudice before the case reaches a final judgment. It allows the plaintiff to end the lawsuit without the need for a trial or a ruling from the court. Non-suit is typically utilized when the plaintiff decides to dismiss their claim, whether due to lack of evidence, settlement, or other reasons.
By non-suiting a case, the plaintiff retains the option to refile the lawsuit in the future if they choose to do so, as long as the statute of limitations has not expired. The non-suit process helps facilitate the resolution of cases that no longer need to be pursued and allows the parties to avoid unnecessary litigation costs and efforts.
